Louis L. “Lou” Watts, 55, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest on May 14, 2013 at his home after an illness. He was born Jan. 3, 1958 in Elkhart, Ind. the son of Louis K. and Mary E. (Mabie) Watts, and came to Edwardsburg 27 years ago.

Lou was married July 1, 1989 in Edwardsburg to Karla J. Sheldon, and she survives with the children, Louis (Julie) Yoder of Morning Sun, Iowa, Nichole (Aaron) Waggoner, Felicia (Steve) Steinbicer and Veronica (Dave) Smith, all of Edwardsburg. He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Robert and Mary Clemans of Edwardsburg, his 10 loving grandchildren and his siblings, Darrell Watts of Goshen, Amy “Dar” Brock and Terri (Joe) Littlefield, both of Elkhart. There are three step-sisters, Jennifer (Danny) White of Rochester, Ind., Judy Hogue of Warsaw, Ind. and Michelle (Steve) Mares of Chicago, and two step-brothers, Robert (Phyllis) Clemans Jr. and Arden (Missy) Clemans, both of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis K. Watts.

Lou worked as a heavy equipment operator for Northern Indiana Construction of Mishawaka, a bridge building company. He also assisted in the clean-up of New York City after 911. Lou loved the outdoors and nature, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed camping and just being with his family, the grandchildren and all of his friends. Beloved to him was his cat, Oreo.

Family and friends gathered May 19, at the Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Rd., Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance was Monday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, where there will be an hour of visitation before the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Reese, Pastor of the church. Interment will follow at Adamsville Cemetery with Military Rites by the US Army Honor Guard assisted by the Edwardsburg American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lou was a Military man in the US Army.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
