NILES - Another unique store has joined the downtown Niles business community.
Tippy Toes Natural Nails Salon and Spa opened Thursday at 127 E. Main St., Suite 4. The best access to owner Vicky Williams' shop is on Second Street.
The origin of the salon's name was as simple, but clever, as it sounded.
Williams said she decided to set herself apart from others with her new salon.
Being familiar with what other salons in the area were offering helped Williams choose some different services, she said. Williams was born and raised in Niles and was also taught the salon business in the area as well. She was trained at the Premier School of Cosmetology in South Bend, Ind. and worked at the local salon, Niles Nails.
Other Niles dignitaries, business owners and city officials joined Sather Thursday morning for the salon's grand opening.
Tippy Toes offers a few services not found in the area, Williams said. Williams' digital nail art computer can transfer thousands of images to the nail surface. Family photos, sports logos and even celebrities can be placed on the nail.
Lining the front of Tippy Toes are five large windows that provide customers with a full view of the activities on Second Street.
Williams also offers hard-to-find lotions, body gels and medicated creams.
Just one more reason why Tippy Toes is another unique business in downtown Niles.
