Eugene (Gene) J. Borgmeyer, 87, of Daytona Beach, Fla., died Sept. 22, 2011 after a short illness.
He was born in Normal, Ill. on Feb. 20, 1924.
He was a glider pilot in the 9th Air Force’s 92nd Squadron of the 439th Troop Carrier Group. He attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. and worked for Price Waterhouse before moving to Niles to work for Clark Equipment Co. He retired to Sarasota, Fla. and worked for the Manatee County Mental Health Center. After surgery in June he moved to the Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veterans Nursing Home in Daytona Beach.
His parents, Alma and August Borgmeyer of St. Louis, Mo., sister, Marijane Mason of Marathon, Fla.; and wife, Marian L. Ross, all predeceased him.
He is survived by his children, Donna Moultrup (David) of Lexington, Mass.; Sandra Alfaia (Tony) of Naperville, Ill.; Roch Borgmeyer (Inga) of Waxhaw, N.C.; Bonnie Saliba (Steve) of Holly Hill, Fla.; Pam Kosiba (David) of Hoschton, Ga.; and Mark Borgmeyer of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 833 Magellan Drive (located at 6600 Pennsylvania Ave., Ninth Street East) at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14.
Burial with military honors at noon at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd. 72 in Sarasota, Fla.
