NILES - Visiting Dowagiac scored 27 runs on 25 hits in sweeping host Brandywine and Constantine on Saturday in a round robin invitational tournament held at the Bobcats' home field.
The Chieftains (7-4) defeated Brandywine 12-3 in the opening game and then took the second game against Constantine, 15-0 in five innings.
Dowagiac's Jake Cox (2-0) scattered eight hits and allowed just three runs in the first game against Brandywine.
Jake Harris (2-6) suffered the loss. Travis Duncan and Cameron Ondresky also pitched for the Bobcats.
At bat, Matt Wieger and Justin Ely each had two hits for Brandywine, while John Stapleton had a triple.
The Chieftains finished with 10 hits, including doubles by David Stuppy and D.J. Edgerly.
Dowagiac led 2-0 after one inning and then exploded for six runs in the second inning to break open the contest. The Chieftains rounded out their scoring with three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Brandywine's three runs came in the third, fifth and sixth innings.
The Bobcats finished with just three hits.
In the second game, Jamie Simpson gave Dowagiac a strong pitching performance and some offense as well.
Simpson (2-1) tossed a two-hitter against the Falcons.
Simpson also homered for the Chieftains, who finished with 15 hits.
Dowagiac also got doubles from Nick File, Matt Dodson and Kyle Bailey.
In game three, Brandywine faced Constantine and handed the Falcons an 8-7 loss.
Jake Harris (3-6) was the winning pitcher. Duncan, Will Coar and Ondresky also pitched for the Bobcats.
Wieger and Dustin Zimmerman each had three hits for Brandywine. Kevin Curran added two RBIs and Noah Udell had a pinch hit RBI single with two outs in the seventh to tie the game. Wieger's third hit of the game won it for the Bobcats.
Brandywine will return to Lakeland Conference action on Tuesday when it hosts Buchanan. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
