Rangers open up with lopsided win

CASSOPOLIS - The Cassopolis girls' varsity basketball team began their 2004 season in fashion with a 65-52 victory over Lawton at Ross Beatty High School Tuesday night.
The game was a defense battle to the very end with both sides flexing their defensive muscles, with Cassopolis proving to be stronger.
Cassopolis led at halftime 32-29.
In the third quarter Cassopolis went on a scoring frenzy to lead by 15 points, and after that it was all Lady Rangers.
Jealyn Foston led Cassopolis with 21 points and Kelsey Gordon finished with 15 points.
Beth Walters had 17 points and Leslie Angle had 16 for Lawton in a losing effort.
Cassopolis now 1-0, travels to Dowagiac tonight to take on Dowagiac in a Cass County battle. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The Lady Rangers return home on Wednesday, Sept. 1 against Centreville. That game is also scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
