BENTON HARBOR - Lake Michigan College's Soccer Club is hosting the Spring Training 5K/10K Run and 5K Walk on Saturday, May 13.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. in front of the LMC Mendel Center and the race starts at 9 a.m. The race will take place on LMC's Napier Avenue Campus and is open to the public.
Proceeds from the race will support the LMC Soccer Club.
Participants will be divided into age categories using 5-year age brackets.
All participants in the race will receive a tee shirt and the top finisher in each age group will receive a medal.
The overall male and female winners will receive a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
This year, a team competition has been added to the annual event for groups of five or more walkers or runners. All members must participate in the same distance.
Those participating in the team competition will still appear in the regular overall results and are eligible for age group prizes. The winning team will receive a trophy.
The fee for all participants is $20 if paid before May 10, and $25 on race day. Registration forms can be picked up at several businesses around the area, including South Shore Health and Racquet Club, YMCA in St. Joseph and Niles and Martins Supermarket in St. Joseph and Stevensville.
