Tuesday morning Susan Gilbert, president of the League of Women voters of Berrien and Cass Counties, received a call from an FBI agent complaining about Chellie Pingree's remarks on the Patriot Act at the Sunshine Week meeting in Three Oaks March 14.
Al DiBrito read a March 17 article on the meeting in the Herald-Palladium and called the reporter who wrote the story.
He characterized his call as “an invitation to debate.”
Gilbert immediately called Common Cause and the League of Women Voters. “The irony of an FBI agent criticizing statements made at a meeting on openness in government is obvious,” Gilbert told Leader Publications.
