Terra Apparel, which in Latin means “Earth” and is located in Niles, has been a hobby for two years for Anthony Udell and his brother, Dominic Udell.
Udell, from Niles, is the CFO of the company, and Dominic Udell came up with starting the company, along with the CEO, Andre Northern from South Bend.
One day while in class at Indiana State University-South Bend, Anthony who had known Northern for quite some time, pulled up a website that showed different types of designs and ideas for T-shirts.  After seeing the website, Northern was very impressed and thought it would be a great idea to start a company by designing those T-shirts. After Northern thought about it and knowing that he liked the idea, he asked to be Anthony’s partner to start creating some ideas for the business.
Following the beginning of starting the business, Northern and Anthony began working through the spring, also while they were in school together to see how it would start out. Fortunately, for the amount of what was sold and how fast items were sold, it was a big success and a great start.
Along with Anthony and Northern, there were also three other friends that came along with the business after it began: head graphic designer Bridget Dix, from South Bend, and Aaron Payne from Niles and Tyson Thompson from South Bend — both the heads of marketing and sales.
The philosophy of Terra Apparel is that it wants to be progressive, conscious and diverse. Along with the philosophy of what to they want to make out of what they have started, they want to be positive and also make the people around them feel positive.
One way for them to build and create more ideas is to help the community by donating, selling and doing custom jobs. They also want to be efficient, better and hopefully become very successful, and also show the world that anyone can make a difference and do whatever they want if it is what you want to do.
It was rough when company first began because it began to make simple T-shirts and by focusing on other things, the business became hard to manage. Now it makes vapor T-shirts, stacked T-shirts and blockade T-shirts. It has been in business four months.
By creating new ideas, trying to reach out to the entire world, being positive and helping others it has become a dream come true for Terra Apparel’s owners.
