DOWAGIAC - Beginning tonight at 7:30 p.m., Beckwith Theatre presents “Mass Appeal,” an award-winning play by Bill C. Davis.
After its premiere in 1981, “Mass Appeal” was made into a successful movie starring Jack Lemmon and Charles Durning.
Father Tim Farley enjoys the good life at Saint Francis. His congregation loves him and proves their love by showering him with good wine and nice cars.
His comfortable world is threatened when a young seminarian, Mark Dolson, questions his view of Catholicism and the priesthood. Their clash is a humorous, often touching examination of values, relationships and courage.
Father Tim Farley is played by Hartford native Tony Meloche, music teacher and veteran of many shows at the Beckwith in Dowagiac. Brett Nichols of Niles is cast in the role of Mark Dolson.
Most recently, Nichols had the lead role of Tony in the Southwestern Michigan College production of “Grease.”
The show continues March 11, 12 (2 p.m. matinee) 17, 18 and 19.
