Volleyball seasons end for area teams

NILES - Niles, Brandywine, Buchanan and Dowagiac volleyball teams all fell in district action on Saturday to wrap up the 2005-06 season.
Class B at Paw Paw
Defending champion Sturgis won three matches Saturday to capture the Class B District Volleyball Tournament.
The Lady Trojans defeated host Paw Paw, 25-23, 27-25 and 26-24; defeated Vicksburg in the semifinals, 25-11, 25-20 and 25-15; and then defeated Three Rivers in the title match, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-23.
Three Rivers reached the title match with a 25-18, 25-23 and 29-27 victory over Dowagiac in the semifinals.
Sturgis improves to 24-26-3 on the year as it heads to the Class B regional at Portage Northern on Saturday, where it will face St. Joseph at 10 a.m.
In the other semifinal, Otsego will face Battle Creek Pennfield at noon. The finals are set for 2 p.m.
Class B at Lakeshore
The Vikings traveled to Lakeshore where they faced the host Lancers and fell in three games 25-11, 25-23 and 25-19.
St. Joseph won the district title when it defeated Lakeshore, 25-20, 25-18 and 27-25.
In other games, the Bears beat Coloma 25-20, 25-19 and 25-16 and also defeated Edwardsburg 25-18, 25-7, 25-11.
Class C at Bridgman
Defending champion Watervliet defeated Buchanan in the title match on Saturday in the Class C District Tournament.
The Lady Panthers scored a 25-18, 25-13, 18-25, 25-16 win over the Lady Bucks to advance to Saturday's regional tournament at Hartford High School.
The Panthers defeated Bridgman in three games in the semifinals 25-21, 25-19, 25-13.
The Bucks ended Brandywine's season in five close games 16-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 15-12.
