Two arrested, one hospitalized in LaGrange Township shooting

LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP — A woman was hospitalized following a shooting Sunday night in LaGrange Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Two men were arrested in connection with the shooting and are facing charges.
Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on January 5, 2025 at approximately 7:24 p.m. Sunday, deputies of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Ascension Borgess Lee Hospital for a 42 year-old female who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim reported being shot at a property in the 57000 block of O’Keefe Road in Cass County’s LaGrange Township. The victim was transported by ambulance to Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for her injuries where she is currently in the ICU.
Information was received that the suspects in the shooting could be located at a property in the 57000 block of M051 Hwy. Deputies responded to this property and took a 21 year-old male and a 24 year-old male into custody without incident. Both male suspects’ names are being withheld pending arraignment on the charges in the 4th District Court. A search warrant was executed in the 57000 block of O’Keefe Rd. where the incident occurred. This is still an ongoing investigation. There was only one single victim, and this incident is not a random act so there is no threat to the public.
Assisting agencies were Michigan State Police, Pokagon Tribal Police, Dowagiac Police, and SMCAS.
