JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — One person was hospitalized in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Jefferson Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that at approximately 6:21 p.m. Saturday, his deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Pine Lake Street and Dailey Road in Jefferson Township.

Investigation shows that a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Ronald Lard, a Mishawaka resident, was traveling eastbound on Pine Lake Street and failed to stop at the stop sign. 19-year-old Mishawaka resident, Miranda Myszak, was southbound on Dailey Road when Lard’s vehicle struck hers at the intersection. EMS checked Lard and his passenger at the scene. EMS transported Myszak’s passenger to Saint Joseph Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of the vehicles were using their seatbelts.. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. Edwardsburg Fire Department, SMCAS, and R and B Towing assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.  The incident remains under investigation.
