NILES - Niles High School is offering a trip to 19th century Oregon this weekend.
On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., students from the school will perform “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” in the high school auditorium.
The setting for the play is a small Oregon town in the 1850s, where seven brothers each kidnap a woman to take back to their home in the mountains.
Playing the lead parts of the married couple Milly and Adam are junior Kelsey Schoff and senior Aaron Dibble.
Playing the remaining six brothers are junior Julian Freas as Benjamin, junior Chris Marsh as Caleb, senior Rick Storm as Daniel, senior Carl Wagner as Ephram, junior Steve Seitz as Frank and junior Alex White as Gideon.
The brides are being played by senior Leah Mitchell as Alice, junior Hilary Landgraf as Dorcas, junior Carrieanne Jones as Ruth, junior Mariette Strauss as Liza, sopohomore Heather Antos as Martha, junior Rita Umuriza as Sarah.
Playing the parts of the suitors are junior Paul Butler as Zeke, junior Jonathan Smith as Carl, junior Jon Rothfuchs as Luke, senior Colin Smith as Matt, junior John White as Joel and junior Brandon Mellott as Jeb.
The preacher is being played by sophomore Christopher Lemanski.
Playing Mr. and Mrs. Bixby are juniors Ryan Green and Stephanie Mantei.
The parts of Mr. and Mrs. Perkins will be played by senior Rashaun Crawford and sophomore Azzaria Gunn.
The town girls are played by juniors Cassi Butus and Caleda Wyland, sophomores Charlie Herman and Cody Hadrick and senior Jessica Herman.
Other towns people are played by Chelsey Clements, Dorea Britton, Amanda Smith, Rebecca Nichols, Andrea Clabough, Ashley Mechem, Ashley Grover, Tea Murphy, Amelia White, Zarrah Mumaw, Alexia Hensel, Kayleigh Sabat, Tiffany Rogers, Stephanie Norton, Erica Bolin, Courtney Fleeker, Chioma Ejiofo, Beth Cawby, Rachel Malling, Kristen Williams, Christy Walters, Nicole Schmal and Jennifer Kennedy.
Niles students are also responsible for lighting and arranging stage props, and, members of the school band are also performing the music.
The teachers overseeing “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” are directors Lisetta Zahm and Matt Hunckler, choreographer Lynn Rouse and engineers Steve Vandenberg and Rob Babler.
Tickets for both shows, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., are available at Niles High School.
