Edwardsburg boys cross country places second in Wolverine Conference Championship Meet

OTSEGO — The Edwardsburg and Niles boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Wolverine Conference Championship Meet Tuesday at Otsego.

The Edwardsburg boys placed second overall with a score of 47 and Niles placed eighth with 188 points. Three Rivers won the championship with a score of 47.

George Scupham led the Eddies with a fourth place finish of 16:26 and Maguire Johnson (17:11), Reed Gates (17:14) and Jack Bell (17:26) placed 18th, 19th and 20th. Beau (22nd, 17:39) and Ceon (30th,18:04) Kirkdoll led Niles.

On the girls’ side, Otsego won the championship once again with a score of 32. Niles finished fifth with 137 points and Edwardsburg placed seventh with 146.

Otsego junior Emma Hoffman won the race in a time of 17:25. Niles senior Charlie Drew led the Vikings with a 14th place finish with a personal-best time of 20:20 and Claire DevlescHoward placed 24th with a time of 21:22. Freshman Layla Gableman led Edwardsburg with a time of 20:51, good for 18th place. Grace Leman (21:24) and Kennedy Kaylor (21:38) placed 25th and 26th for Edwardsburg.
