ST. JOSEPH — Berrien County Circuit Court Judge Charles LaSata was recently selected by his peers to serve as the statewide President of the Michigan Judges Association.
Joining Judge LaSata for the swearing in ceremony on Mackinac Island were all of his Circuit Court colleagues from Berrien County, Judges Pasula, Howard and Smith. Judge LaSata has served on the MJA Executive Committee for more than a decade. The Michigan Judges Association membership is composed of Circuit Judges and Court of Appeals Judges from throughout the state. MJA provides educational and training opportunities, and also serves as a resource for the Michigan Legislature on the adoption of laws and statutes and their impact on the judiciary.
Judge LaSata has been a Circuit Judge for twenty years. Prior to taking the bench he served six years in the Michigan State House and four years as the Mayor of the City of Saint Joseph.
