HARTFORD — The Buchanan football team took care of business Friday against Hartford with a 38-12 win.

Quarterback Luke Zeiger completed 8 of 12 passes for 198 yards and four touchdown passes, two to Tyler Baker (five catches, 109 yards) and Brody Reed ( two catches, 76 yards). Leland Payne had eight carries for 69 yards.

Tyler Pelletier led the team with 10 tackles and Jameson Pleasant tallied nine tackles and a sack and Owen Thompson tallied five tackles and a sack. The Bucks defense held the Huskies to 130 yards of offense.

“Overall, we were very pleased with our team’s performance,” said head coach Mark Frey. “We started a little slow, but once our guys locked in we played very well. Offensively, it was nice to move the ball around a little more. The last three weeks have been pretty run heavy due to the injury of quarterback Jake Franklin. However, Luke Zeiger played a great game managing our offense and was able to show that we can be a more balanced team. Defensively, our guys played physical football which was nice to see going into our last conference game.”

The Bucks face Dowagiac at 7 p.m. Friday at Dowagiac.
