MARCELLLUS - The Village of Marcellus, through its Village Manager Interview and Recommendation Committee, will interview finalist candidates for the position of village manager on Saturday, March 11, at Marcellus Village Hall, 177 E. Main St.
The successful candidate will serve as the first village manager for the northeastern Cass County community.
The four finalist candidates include:
Craig A. Sumerix, of Buchanan, who holds two degrees from Michigan State University: a bachelor of science degree (major: physical science, minor: mathematics); secondary teaching certification; and a master of arts for teachers (emphasis on curriculum development).
Sumerix served as interim city manager for the City of Buchanan during 2005 and has held a number of management and staff positions in business and education in Buchanan, South Bend, Ind., the Federated States of Micronesia and Japan during 1987-2004.
Kevin M. Gillette, of Stevensville, who holds a bachelor of science degree in political science/public administration from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, and secondary teaching certification from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. Gillette served two full terms as supervisor of Lincoln Charter Township in Berrien County during 1996-2004. In addition, he was a member of the Michigan Townships Association's board of directors, representing Berrien, Cass, Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties from 1999 to 2005 and served on its Executive Committee during 2004-2005. He has served on the Michigan Manufactured Housing Commission since 1998.
Mark A. Glenn, of Grand Blanc, who holds a bachelor of public affairs degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, and a master of arts degree in political science from the University of Rochester, N.Y. Glenn served as city manager of Montrose during 2002-03. He served as manager and then as supervisor of ordinance services for the City of Rochester Hills during 2000-01.
Laurie Sarkipato Goggin, of Mattawan, who holds a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., and a master of arts degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, Ariz. Goggin served as quality and organizational development administrator for the City of Mesa, Ariz., during 1996-2003 and in a number of other executive positions for Mesa during 1987-1996.
