BUCHANAN — The Buchanan football team fell to Berrien Springs 31-6 Friday in Lakeland Conference action.
Trailing 3-0 at halftime, the Bucks responded in the third quarter with a 13-yard Brody Reed touchdown run to go up 6-3. The Shamrocks bounced back, scoring 28 unanswered points to seal the victory.
Buchanan quarterback Lucas Zeiger completed 6 of 18 passes for 50 yards and an interception and Gabe Tompkins had 11 carries for 35 yards. Darius Williams had two catches for 31 yards. On defense, Tyler Baker had nine tackles and Jameson Pleasant had eight.
“Our guys fought hard all night and were in a much closer game than the score shows,” said Buchanan coach Mark Frey. “Berrien is a strong team and unfortunately we didn’t play a penalty free game and we physically struggled by the end. However there were many bright spots on the night and we can use those to get focused on the last three weeks of the regular season.”
Buchanan (3-3,1-1) travels to face Hartford at 7 p.m. Friday.
