DOWAGIAC — Two people were placed under arrest Tuesday after drugs were found inside their vehicle, according to the Dowagiac Police Department. 

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team assisted the Dowagiac Police Department on a traffic stop in the 100 Block of Halstead Street within the City of Dowagiac. Officers found methamphetamine inside a vehicle. The incident took place on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Officers and detectives conducted the search after K9 Cash scent alerted on the passenger and driver’s side door of a vehicle that officers had stopped. During the search, law enforcement officers found methamphetamine and arrested the driver, age 63, and the passenger, 40, and charged the pair with possession of methamphetamine.  The names of the two defendants are being withheld pending their arraignments.

The operation is a joint investigation between Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the Dowagiac Police Department.
