Eddies roll Walkerton John Glenn 48-8 in season opener

WALKERTON, Ind. — Edwardsburg football’s road trip to Indiana ended in winning fashion Friday night.
The Eddies scored 21 points in the first quarter on their way to a 48-8 victory over Walkerton John Glenn. Edwardsburg rushed for 360 yards on the ground – 260 of which came in the first half. Carsen Cebra (35 yards), Grant Ostrander (66 yards) and Grant Griffin (75 yards) each found the end zone in the first quarter. Quarterback Zeke Pegura found the end zone on a 6-yard run that put the Eddies up 27-8 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Pegura found Griffin on a 58-yard touchdown pass to put the Eddies up 34-8 before Brody Schimpa and Cebra each scored a touchdown in the third quarter to round out scoring for the Eddies (1-0), who host St. Joseph (1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept 6. The Eddies hope to have the services of Pegura next week, after the second-year signal caller appeared to injure his knee in the second half of Friday’s game.
