Dec. 7, 1945-July 17, 2024
Robert Stanley Szamecki, known affectionately to his friends and family as Bob, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at his sister’s home in Niles. Born in South Bend on Dec.7, 1945, to the late Stanley Edward Szamecki and Lucille Jessee Syson, Bob was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend who brought light and warmth to every life he touched.
Robert enjoyed recreational boating, tinkering with anything mechanical, photography, the outdoors and developing relationships with genuine and sincere people. If you considered Bob a friend, count yourself in this category. Robert was a humorous and caring man that gave as much of himself to others as he possibly could. Robert was incredibly active until just a few short days before he passed. He made indelible marks on those closest to him with his unmatched wit and his willingness to assist friends and family. Robert leaves an unfillable void for those who knew him, which is testament to the space he occupied in our hearts and minds. He will live on in our lives as we are reminded of some of his quips while we’re engaged in future conversations, while we’re enjoying a particularly beautiful day on the water, when watching a magnificent sunset on a beach somewhere, or when we’re in need of assistance and we wish we had our Bob to call for help…
Preceding Bob in passing are his parents, and sister, Marcie Campbell.
Robert is survived by his sisters, Marianne Abair and Marilyn Sue Lacy and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Per Bob’s wishes he will be cremated, and his family will be remembering him privately.
Photos, condolences, and memories may be left for Bob’s family atĀ www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com
Bob’s legacy is one of authenticity and caring, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
