Dowagiac earns Division 2 Academic All-State for 20th consecutive year

DOWAGIAC — For the 20th straight year, the Dowagiac softball team has earned Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association Division 2 Academic All-State.
Edwardsburg and Niles joined the Chieftains in Division 2, while Brandywine and Buchanan earned Division 3 honors.
In Division 4, Decatur and Marcellus earned academic all-state.
These six schools earned team status and produced at least one individual academic all-state honoree.
To earn individual academic all-state, a player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher over the course of her high school career, not just a single season. A team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Earning academic all-state in Division 2 were Dowagiac’s Aubrey Busby, Edwardsburg’s Lexi Schimpa and Niles Emerson Garrard and Lailia Vance.
In Division 3, Brandywine’s Kadence Brumitt received the honor, as did Buchanan’s Camille Lozmack and Hannah Herman.
Marcellus’ Clare Flory, Addie Curtis, Layni Heuring and Kenzie Schuur were joined by Decatur’s Morgan McLouth as Division 4 honorees.
