DOWAGIAC — A new city service was celebrated with much fanfare Friday morning.

City and county officials, community members and volunteers were on hand to celebrate the launch of Dowagiac DART on Demand service – a new, Uber-like service aiming to make it easier for Dowagiac residents to move around the city.

Throughout the day, volunteers rode the buses to spread the word about the new capability, which allows Dowagiac DART riders to request a ride and track its status via the Ride Pingo app. To celebrate the launch, throughout the month of July, all rides requested through the Dowagiac DART on Demand service are free.
