Buchanan trio, one Bobcat named first-team D3 All-State

EAST LANSING — Reaching the Division 3 Michigan High School Athletic Association state semifinals brings with it numerous accolades.
The Buchanan Bucks, who were eliminated by Evart in East Lansing, are reaping the rewards of another great season.
The Bucks, who finished the season 35-6, had a trio of players named first-team Division 3 All-State by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association, which released its postseason honors late Monday night.
Outfielder Caitlyn Horvath, shortstop Hannah Herman and third baseman Camille Lozmack were all first-team selections, as was Brandywine’s Chloe Parker, who was named to the squad as a utility player.
Buchanan also had Hailee Kara named to the honorable mention portion of the squad.
Horvath hit .509 with two doubles, a triple and 18 RBIs. Herman hit .510 with 13 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 45 RBIs and Lozmack hit .452 with nine doubles, four triples, three home runs and 46 RBIs.
Kara was 21-5 on the year with 143 strikeouts. She also hit .392 with 11 doubles, a triple four home runs and 39 RBIs.
Parker hit .507 with 10 doubles, a triple, six home runs and 31 RBIs.
