BUCHANAN — Champion Buchanan had five players selected first-team All-Lakeland Conference in softball this season and eight players overall.

Runner-up Dowagiac had four first-team sele selections and seven players picked overall, while Brandywine had a trio of first-team picks and five players named all-conference overall.

The Bucks, who reached the Division 3 state semifinals this season, had seniors Hannah Herman, Hailee Kara, Camille Lozmack and Faith Bartley, junior Caitlyn Horvath, and sophomore Aspen Berry selected for the first team.

Shortstop Herman hit .500 in conference play with four doubles and a home run, with an on-base percentage of .524. Kara, named to the team as a pitcher, had an ERA of 0.875 against Lakeland opponents with 20 strikeouts and four walks. She also hit .571 with four doubles and a home run, with an on-base percentage of .650.

Horvath hit .412 and had an on-base percentage of .545. She earned a spot on the squad as the center fielder. Lozmack, who pitched and played third for the Bucks, hit .500 with an OBA of .556. Bartley, who played right field, hit .500 with one triple and one home run. She had an OBA of .529.

Berry, the Buchanan catcher, hit .500 with a double, a triple, and an OBA of .500.

Earning honorable mention for the Bucks were second baseman Bailey Trial (senior), first baseman Cameron Carlson (freshman) and designated hitter/third baseman Keegan May (senior).

Dowagiac senior Aubrey Bushby, junior Rebcca Guernsey, and sophomores Marlie Carpenter and Bree Behnke were first-team selections for the Chieftains.

Center fielder Busby hit .615 in league play with a double and a home run, while she had an on-base percentage of .667. Guernsey pitched and played outfield for Dowagiac and had an ERA of 2.91 with eight strikeouts. She hit .363 with an OBA of .600.

Carpenter, who played shortstop for the Chieftains, hit .550 with four doubles and had an OBA of .636. Behnke, Dowagiac’s second baseman, hit .438 with 1 double and an OBA of .500.

Outfielder Olivia McIntosh and catcher Claire Hess were both honorable mention selections for the Chieftains.

Chloe Parker, Kadence Brumitt and Julia Babcock were the first team picks for the Bobcats.

Parker, listed as a catcher, designated player and utility player, hit .507 with 10 doubles, a triple and five home runs. She had an on-base percentage of .466.

Brumitt, who played short and pitched for Brandywine, hit .468 with six doubles, a triple and 10 home runs. She had an OBA of .442. Babcock, the Bobcats’ center fielder, hit .413 with five doubles and four home runs. She had an OBA of .392.

Honorable mention picks for Brandywine were first baseman Kaegan VanSandt and utility/pitcher Adelyn Drotoz.

Berrien Springs shortstop Alayna Wells and utility player Jasyl Withers were the other two first-team selections.
