JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A 33-year-old Niles man was injured in a single vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Jefferson Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. 

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 07:50 a.m. Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Pine Lake Street east of Dailey Road in Jefferson Township. 33-year-old Niles resident Kieffer Thornton was traveling east on Pine Lake Street when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway, striking several trees. 

Thornton was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Thornton was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries.  Assisting at the scene was SMCAS Ambulance and Edwardsburg Fire Department.
