Vicksburg blanks Edwardsburg in regional semifinals

EDWARDSBURG — The third time was not a charm for the Edwardsburg softball team as Vicksburg eliminated the Eddies from the Division 2 state tournament with a 5-0 victory in the regional semifinals Saturday.
The Bulldogs, who are trying to get back to the state championship game for a second straight year, scored all of its runs in the opening two inning.
Vicksburg scored a pair of runs in the first and three more in the second before turning the game over to its pitching and defense.
Edwardsburg (25-12) was held to just four hits in the contest — all singles.
Lani Hardin, Courtney Zarycki, Mia Castelucci and Brynn Young all had one hit for the Eddies.
Victoria Pulling took the loss in the circle for Edwardsburg. She lasted just an inning and a third. Makhaya Heflin pitched the remainder of the game and did not allow a run on two hits.
