NILES — A popular downtown business has uncorked its latest addition, much to the delight of customers.

2nd & Main Coffee House and Wine Bar, 127 E. Main St., officially launched its wine bar menu Monday after more than a year of anticipation.

“It’s exciting,” said co-owner Lea Germann. “When you do something new, we’re hoping for support from the community. It’s exciting to actually see it all come together and have the name ‘wine bar’ make sense on our name.”

The wine bar menu, available during all hours of operation, features a wide selection of wines, beer, cocktails and mocktails – including items from local businesses such as Ironshoe Distillery, River St. Joe and Peat’s Cider Social. Drinks like the Whisky Business and Just Peachy are crafted using Sticky Spoons Jams and the tequila used in cocktails comes from Nappanee, Indiana-based Ruhe152. The wine bar menu also has appetizers including feta dip, roasted tomato garlic cheese dip, spring bruschetta toasts and beer cheese with pretzel rods. 

2nd & Main, spearheaded by owners Germann, Alishia Ransbottom and Dustin Jankoviak, offers items including coffee, smoothies, smoothie bowls, teas, cold pressed juices and wellness shots, grab-and-go salads, parfaits, Kind Bars, flatbread pizzas, protein donuts and artisan toasts. The building features plenty of seating and a spacious, open atmosphere with windows overlooking the downtown streetscape.

For Germann, Ransbottom and Jankoviak, a wine bar was always part of the plan for the business, which spent the past year curating its drink menu and working with local vendors. 

“We’re utilizing some of our cold pressed juices, some local jams, just some different things that you haven’t seen before that will be delicious,” she said. “We’re excited.”

According to Germann, the community’s response has been positive.

“People are excited,” she said. “It looks different, it looks new and it’s exciting so people are excited about things that we have to try.”

2nd & Main has adopted its new summer schedule and is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
