PORTER TOWNSHIP — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Monday morning in Porter Township.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at 6:27 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to an emergency call of a pedestrian hit and run crash on US 12 just west of Mason Street in Porter Township. The caller reported seeing a body on the side of the roadway and believed they had been hit by a car. 

When emergency personnel arrived, a male subject was found deceased on the side of the roadway in the grass. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family. Assisting on scene were the Michigan State Police, SEPSA Ambulance and the Porter Township Fire Department.
