Jeane McGrew Martz, 91, of Cassopolis, died May 31, 2024.
Her life began June 5, 1932, in Des Arc, Arkansas, the third of seven children born to Gilbert and Mary Harvey. She married Wilson E. “Joe” McGrew and after several years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 1972. She later married Walter M. Martz and he preceded her in death in 2018.
Jeane enjoyed baking. Her family will miss her noodles and bean casserole at the holidays. She was an avid reader, especially romance novels. She was a hard worker her whole life and most recently was a cashier at Harding’s in Cassopolis. Jeane enjoyed flowers, lilacs being her favorite, and in her earlier years, would often garden and can her own food.
Jeane will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Becky McGrew of Dowagiac, Diana McGrew of Cassopolis; six grandchildren, Dana Jenkins of Cassopolis, Rich McGrew of Cassopolis, Jeff McGrew, Daniel McGrew of South Bend, Ryan (Rebecca) McGrew of Niles, Lindsay (Jason) Riggins of Niles; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one stepson, Ed Martz of Niles; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two beloved husbands; two sons, Keith E. McGrew, Gary D. McGrew; three sisters, Norma Churchwell, Sue Harris, Shirley Taylor; and three brothers, Gilbert “GB” Harvey, Warren Harvey, Charles Harvey.
Family and friends will gather from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. June 10, 2024, in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.
Jeane will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Joe McGrew in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis.
