Eddies, Bobcats pick up first-round wins

NILES — The Edwardsburg soccer team advanced to the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 District soccer semifinals with a 4-2 win over host Niles Thursday.
The Eddies advanced to the semifinals against district host Vicksburg 4-0 to move onto Tuesday’s match.
In the other half of the bracket, St. Joseph blanked Sturgis 8-0 to advance to the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against arch rival Lakeshore. The Vicksburg-Edwardsburg match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Division 2 District championship match is set for 7 p.m. Thursday.
Division 3
Buchanan, which received a first-round bye, will host South Haven at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The Rams advanced to the semifinals with a 7-0 win over Hartford.
In the other half of the bracket, Three Rivers will host Constantine at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Wildcats defeated Dowagiac 5-1 in the quarterfinals.
Dowagiac will host the championship match at 5 p.m. Friday.
Division 4
Brandywine edged Covert 2-1 in the quarterfinals to advance to Tuesday’s semifinal against Michigan Lutheran, which edged host Bridgman 2-1.
The Titans and Bobcats will square off in the semifinals at 5 p.m. at Bridgman.
In the other half of the bracket, Our Lady of the Lake will face Coloma in the other semifinal Tuesday.
The Lakers blanked New Buffalo 7-0, while Coloma edged arch rival Watervliet 2-1 in quarterfinals.
The championship match is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday.
