Edwardsburg shut out ranked Bobcats twice

EDWARDSBURG — The No. 9-ranked Brandywine baseball team was no match for host Edwardsburg Thursday.

The Eddies swept the Bobcats 12-0 and 10-0 in a non-league doubleheader.

Edwardsburg (19-9) used a seven-run second inning to break open the opening game.

The Eddies had 11 hits in the contest, which included four extra base hits. Payton Bookwalter homered, Zac Zache tripled, while Brady Cook and Ryun Buck both doubled.

Brandywine managed just three hits.

Joe Lundgren started and earned the victory. Andrew Rudolph came on in the fifth. Ethan Adamczyk took the loss for the Bobcats, who fall to 18-6 on the season.

In the nightcap, the Eddies scored four runs in the first and second inning to jump out to an 8-0 lead. Edwardsburg scored two in the third inning to complete the scoring.

Lundgren tripled for one of the Eddies’ four hits.

Brandywine was held to a pair of hit, including a double by Jaremiah Palmer.

Austin Leak picked up the victory. Kyler Marshall took the loss for the Bobcats.
