DOWAGIAC — Mno-Bmadsen, the non-gaming investment arm of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, announced Monday that it has expanded its Construction Services Group with the acquisition of OJS Building Services, Inc., a mechanical and building automation systems contractor. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

Located in Mishawaka, Ind., OJS offers HVAC, plumbing, and building automation services to a wide variety of commercial customers including hospitals, schools, shopping centers, municipal buildings, swimming pools, office buildings and more.  The company’s primary services include installation and service of boilers, chillers, hydronic and steam equipment, process piping, commercial plumbing, medical gasses, and extensive preventative maintenance offerings.   

“We are very pleased to make this investment in another well-established Indiana company which further demonstrates our commitment to supporting the communities which are located on the ancestral lands of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi,” said Mno-Bmadsen Chief Executive Officer Julio Martinez. “The acquisition of OJS Building Services not only complements our Construction Services Group and growing portfolio of investment holdings, but also expands the capabilities of our longtime local industry leading commercial HVAC and Plumbing company, D.A. Dodd.”

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi’s sovereignty was reaffirmed under legislation signed into law by President Clinton in September of 1994.  The Pokagon Band is dedicated to providing community development initiatives such as housing, education, family services, medical care, and cultural preservation for its more than 6,000 citizens.  The Pokagon Band’s ten-county service area includes four counties in Southwestern Michigan and six in Northern Indiana.  Its main administrative offices are located in Dowagiac with a satellite office in South Bend, Ind.  More information is available at www.pokagonband-nsn.gov.
