Despite offensive woes, Rangers pull out victory

LAWRENCE — The Cassopolis boys basketball team won for the fourth time in five games as it defeated host Lawrence 44-36 in Southwest 10 Conference action Saturday.
After scoring 23 points in the opening quarter, the Rangers struggled to find the basket over the last three quarters.
The Tigers, who had just nine points in the opening eight minutes and trailed 23-9, outscored Cassopolis 14-10 in the second quarter to cut the Rangers’ lead to 33-23 at halftime.
Neither team played well at the offensive end in the final two quarters.
Cassopolis scored 11 points in the second half, while Lawrence scored 13 points.
Malachi Ward led the Rangers with 17 points. Kenny May added 13 points.
Cassopolis are back in action Monday when it travels to Comstock for a Southwest 10 Conference contest.
