Reba S. Pye, 82, of Dowagiac, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, 2024, at The Timber of Cass County.
She was born on Oct. 28, 1941, in Buchanan, MI, the daughter of Raymond and Edna (Null) Kent. On June 7, 1975, Reba was united in marriage to Donald Pye in Dowagiac. She worked as a bus driver for Lewis Cass Intermediate School for 18 years until her retirement in 2009. Reba enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, and going to garage sales and auctions; but most importantly, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Donald Pye Sr; three children — Cindy (Bob) Simmons, Donald Jr. (Erica) Pye and Cheri Pye all of Dowagiac; four step-children — David (Kim) Pye, Barry Johnson, Dawn Rugar and Debra (Allen Prigel) McTeague; grandchildren — Jessica (Phillip) Gray, Brandon (Lauren) Simmons, Justin (Lauren) Joanis, Mathew (Katie Hendrix) Joanis, Diondra McTeague, Grant Rugar, Alyssa Rugar, Emily Johnson, Taylor Pye, Aaron Pye, Chalee (Dylan) Elmore, Noah Miston, Dave Pye, Hunter Pye and Justice Pye; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law – Betty Erskine; special niece — Kelly Settle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters — Louise Davis and Linda Clubb; brother – James Kent; and two grandsons — Michael Anthony and Alexander McTeague.
A service to celebrate Reba’s life will be held at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services-Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center Street, where friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m., until the time of service. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mooseheart Child City & School.
