Dowagiac’s White and Chapman place fourth; Niles’ Means-Flewellen fifth in Ohio

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Dowagiac wrestling team finished 24th and Niles 32nd at the Defiance Tri-State Border War on Friday.
Napoleon was the team champion with 248 points, while Yale was the runner-up with 195.5 points and Tinora third with 163.5 points. The Chieftains finished with 66.5 points and the Vikings finished with 52 points.
Dowagiac had a pair of fourth-place finishers as Cameron White (138) and Cal Chapman (285) both brought home medals.
Niles’ Julian Means-Flewellen finished fifth at 190 pounds.
White went 7-2 to finish fourth. He was blanked (4-0) by Fremont Ross’ Jayce Frymire in the fifth-place match.
Chapman was 5-2 at the two-day tournament that featured more than 50 teams. Dekalb’s James Hartleroad pinned him in 4:04.
Means-Flewellen was 5-2 on the day as well. Mean-Flewellen defeated Homestead’s Ryan Schoff 7-2 in the fifth-place match.
