EDWARDSBURG — Senior Chloe Baker, of Edwardsburg, will continue her academic and athletic career at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Baker signed a national letter of intent with the Pilots, who edged Southwestern Assemblies of God in Kissimmee, Florida, to win the school’s first-ever National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship in soccer Dec. 1.
“I chose Bethel because it felt right and is a great small, Christian college,” Baker said. “When I went on a visit I instantly knew it was the right place. The soccer program is amazing, the coaching staff and players were super welcoming. They took the initiative to get to know me. It is a bunch of Christian girls that love to play soccer just like me, which is exactly what I was looking for.”
Baker, the daughter of Dalen and Darcy Baker, was also impressed by the coaches.
“The coaching staff is super knowledgeable about the game of soccer,” she said. “I was talking to another local college, but as soon as Bethel reached out, and I met with the coaching staff, I knew that was where I was meant to be and was the next step in continuing my academic and soccer career.
Baker said she will be majoring in communication, with a minor in sports management in hopes to be a sports broadcaster one day.”
