BENTON HARBOR — For the eighth year in a row, the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency (SMCAA) is launching its Holiday Food Sharing Program, sponsored by the City of Benton Harbor, Whirlpool Corporation and the PGA of America.
Together, these organizations are working to help those in need this holiday season.
The Holiday Food Sharing Program collects and distributes approximately 400 food boxes and turkeys to Benton Harbor, Benton Township and St. Joseph residents and families each year. Since the program’s founding in 2015, the SMCAA has helped more than 2,800 families in the area.
“With Benton Harbor being home to the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, this community is deeply important to us,” said Brandon Haney, championship director for the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. “Delivering meals to local families in need is just one small way we give back and show our appreciation during the holiday season.”

“It is a privilege for us to give back to our local community each year,” said Deb O’Connor, director of corporate reputation and community relations at Whirlpool Corporation. “The annual Holiday Food Sharing Program has become an important tradition for us, and a wonderful experience bringing cheer to families in our community this holiday season.”
“This annual program is an example of the strength and closeness of our community,” added Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad says. “We are grateful for the support of our generous sponsors and local volunteers who give back to families and residents across all three of our communities year after year.”
