EDWARDSBURG — Senior Drew Glaser, of Edwardsburg, has been named Division 2 first-team All-State by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.

Teammates Lexi Schimpa, a senior, and Sarah Pippin, a sophomore, were named to the second- and third-teams, respectively. Niles senior Amelia Florkowski was an honorable mention pick.

In Division 3, Brandywine senior Kadence Brumitt was named first-team All-State after two years of being an honorable mention selection.

Also in Division 3, Buchanan’s Chloe Aalfs, a junior, was a second-team selection and Alyssa Carson, also a junior, was an honorable mention pick.

 

Division 2

Glaser, who has signed a national letter of intent to continue her career at Valparaiso University, helped lead the Eddies to the state quarterfinals.

Glaser, a second-team pick in 2022, finished the year with 508 kills, 174 digs, 52 blocks and 33 aces. She also surpassed 1,000 kills for her career (1,044) and set a Michigan High School Athletic Association record with 29 kills in a single match.

Schimpa ended the 2023 season with 1,029 assists, 221 digs, 91 kills, 48 aces and 30 blocks. She surpassed the 2,000 assists plateau for her career (2,729) during the regular-season and set an MHSAA record with 50 assists in a single game.

Schimpa, who has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Alvia University in Kansas City, Missouri, was a MIVCA honorable mention pick in 2022.

Pippin had 405 kills, 209 digs, 45 blocks and 29 aces for the Eddies, who were co-Wolverine Conference champions, as well as Division 2 District and Regional titlists.

Niles’ Amelia Florkowski, a senior, was an honorable mention selection. She had 554 digs and 53 aces. She finished her career with 1,608 digs.

 

Division 3

Brumitt, who will also attend Valparaiso University to play volleyball, surpassed the 1,600 kills plateau this season for the Bobcats.

The outside hitter finished the 2023 season with 636 kills, 389 digs, 91 aces and 40 blocks.

Aalfs helped the Bucks win the Lakeland Conference championship and the Division 3 District title before falling to eventual state champion Kalamazoo Christian in the Regional semifinals.

She finished the year with 457 kills, 284 digs, 36 aces and 32 blocks.

Carson, who missed a majority of the season due to an injury, ended the season with 204 kills and 26 blocks.
