NILES — The regular season has all but wrapped up for the fall sports teams in the Leader Publications coverage area.
Conference championships have been decided in football, cross country and volleyball over the past two weeks, while the girls golf season has concluded as the state finals where held this past weekend.
There have been some shifting in the Leader Publications Champions Cup standings with Buchanan moving to the top of the list after having captured both the boys and girls cross country titles, as well as the Lakeland Conference volleyball championship.
The Bucks now have 40 points as the postseason begins for cross country, volleyball and football.
Edwardsburg moved into second place with 32 points thanks to winning a piece of the Wolverine Conference volleyball title, while Niles jumped up to third place by winning the Wolverine Conference football crown and sending a golfer to the state finals.
Dowagiac is currently in fourth place with 27 points, while Brandywine — which was the leader in the initial standings — is fifth with 22 points and Cassopolis sixth with 18 points.
The next standings will be released following the cross country regionals, football district round and volleyball districts have been concluded.
