Arrest expected

NILES - Late Friday evening, Deputy Thomas Simpson of the Berrien County Sheriff's Niles Township Patrol went to 2337 S. 17th St. to conduct an investigation after information was received that the 58-year-old occupant of that residence was involved in a hit and run property damage accident in Niles Township earlier that day.
While Deputy Simpson was investigating that complaint, Deputy Simpson observed a small amount of marijuana and some items commonly used to manufacture marijuana inside of the residence.
Deputy Simpson then contacted the Berrien County Narcotics Unit for assistance.
Detectives from the Berrien County Narcotics Unit then obtained a search warrant for the residence.
Officers seized approximately one quarter pound of marijuana (street value $400) from the residence, as well as numerous items used to manufacture (grow) marijuana. The officers also seized numerous pieces of drug evidence and drug paraphernalia from the residence.
This investigation will be forwarded to the Berrien County Prosecutors Office requesting that an arrest warrant be authorized for the arrest of the occupant of this residence on the following charges:
1: Manufacturing Marijuana.
2: Possession of Marijuana.
3: Maintaining a Drug House.
