Safe recovered in Paw Paw river

ST. JOSEPH - A Watervliet man is being charged with burglary of a safe Berrien County divers recovered from the Paw Paw River in Hartford Township.
The Berrien County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday announced the arrest of Brian Dale Jenkins, 23, of 7893 Red Arrow Highway, Watervliet.
On Nov. 17, 2005, deputies investigated a home invasion at 8149 Forest Beach Road in Watervliet Township in which a safe was taken from that residence.
Information was developed which led to Jenkins' arrest for safe burglary.
Jenkins admitted to investigators that he, along with another subject, cut a hole in the safe to retrieve items inside it and this took place in Hartford Township, Van Buren County.
A warrant for Jenkins was authorized by the Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office.
Jenkins waived his preliminary hearing at Seventh District Court and was bound over to face charges in 36th Judicial Circuit Court, Van Buren County. This investigation is continuing.
