Teams return to action Wednesday

NILES - Area sports teams have been enjoying a few days off, but will return to competitions beginning on Wednesday.
The Niles volleyball teams will be hosting Dowagiac in a tripleheader on Wednesday evening.
Freshmen are set to begin and junior varsity are set to begin at 6 p.m. with varsity following.
Brandywine will face Edwardsburg for a Lakeland Conference game, also set for 6 p.m., with varsity following freshmen and JV.
Buchanan will host Bridgman for another LAC game. This tripleheader will also start at 6 p.m.
The Bucks will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Lake Michigan Catholic.
The Vikings competitive cheer team will compete in the Lakeshore Invitational Thursday, set to begin at 6 p.m.
On Friday, area basketball teams will return to the court with Niles traveling to Coldwater, Brandywine at Edwardsburg and Buchanan at Albion.
Freshmen games will begin at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5:45 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
The Niles varsity wrestling team jumps back into tournament action on Saturday when it competes in the 12th annual Coloma Comets Varsity Super Dual Tournament.
Joining the Vikes and Comets will be Dowagiac, Plainwell, St. Joseph, River Valley, Hamilton, Allendale, Paw Paw and Cassopolis.
Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 per person.
Niles will compete in Pool A with Coloma, Plainwell, St. Joseph and River Valley.
Pool B consists of Dowagiac, Hamilton, Allendale, Paw Paw and Cassopolis.
Niles will open up against Plainwell before moving on to face Coloma in round two, River Valley in round three and St. Joseph in round four.
The Vikings will have a bye in the fifth round.
In the opening round, Dowagiac will take on Hamilton. In the second round the Chieftains will face Cassopolis, while in the third round Dowagiac will face Paw Paw.
The Chieftains will have a bye in the fourth round before wrapping up pool competition against Allendale.
The Rangers will have a first round bye before facing Dowagiac, Hamilton, Allendale and Paw Paw in rounds two through five.
In the championship round, the first place teams from Pool A and Pool B will square off on mat No. 1 with the second place teams on mat No. 2 and the third place teams on mat No. 3.
Dowagiac will turn up for the tournament on Thursday when it hosts Battle Creek Lakeview in a Big 16 Conference non-divisional match. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. with the junior varsity matches.
Also on Saturday, Buchanan will be hosting Super Duals at 9 a.m.
Match times and teams in attendance will be posted later this week.
Niles' varsity volleyball team will be attending the St. Joseph Invitational, which begins at 9 a.m.
Buchanan's varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams will be competing in the Edwardsburg Invitational, which also begins at 9 a.m.
