Strong fourth quarter earns Bucks a win

BUCHANAN - The Buchanan Bucks used a strong fourth quarter to break open a close game as they shut the door on visiting Edwardsburg, 64-50, in a Lakeland Conference game Friday night.
Buchanan trailed 35-31 heading into the final eight minutes of the game but a 15-2 run to start the quarter by the Bucks broke open a close game.
The Eddies held the lead for most of the first three periods. Buchanan eventually tied the game at 22 with 6:20 to play in the third quarter. The remaining six minutes was a see saw battle with four lead changes and the Eddies leading 34-31 at the end of three quarters.
Buchanan's bench players provided the scoring for the Bucks with Jordan Lee scoring 22 points and Avery Brown banging down four 3-pointers for his 12 points.
Burns had four assists and three steals. Lee and Jeff Kyles each finished with eight rebounds with Kyles picking up four steals.
The Eddies finished the night with 27 turnovers while the Bucks limited their miscues to 15.
Tony Hayes tallied 24 for the Eddies who fall to 0-4 in the Lakeland and 2-5 overall.
Buchanan will host Georgetown, a team from Ontario, Canada, today with the JV contest to begin at 1:30 and varsity to follow.
