NILES - The Sunday evening concerts are back, this week with Uncle John.
Uncle John's Band appears at the Riverfront Cafe at 219 N. Front St. in Niles, on Sunday Jan. 15 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Uncle John's Band is a coming together of four musicians who have been playing apart from one another for years. They met playing individually at Fiddler's Hearth's open mics on Wednesday nights.
They worked together on a CD called Indiana Line, which has just been named one of W.V.P.E's (public radio) top CDs of 2005.
John Potthast plays guitars, bass, mandolin and banjo and sings. Judy Berg plays guitar and sings.
Greg Czyzewski plays guitar, mandolin, bass and sings. Meg Jonas, John's wife, plays bass and sometimes fiddle and guitar as well as clogging (a little extra fun).
John, Greg and Judy are all songwriters in their own right. They've all got slightly different styles and backgrounds and songs to bring to the table. “We knew we'd sound good together and hope you all enjoy hearing us,” Berg said.
