NILES - Cedar Lane's basketball team traveled north of Battle Creek Thursday for a round robin tournament, which opened its season.
The team won both of their games, defeating Maple Valley Alternative High School, 54-23 and Republic Pride Alternative, 44-20.
Barnhardt also stated that his team played great defense, pressed well and jumped out to early leads in both games.
Jeremy Kirschbaum led all scorers in both games, scoring 32 and 29 points.
Antoine Gray had 11 and four points, Tyler Haines had four and eight points, Jason Breeting added four points in both games and Jason York scored three against maple Valley.
Cedar Lane will host Andrews Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at the Niles High School auxiliary gym.
Tip off time is set for 6 p.m.
