NILES - Since Niles High School senior Dane Martin was a boy he has been drawing.
Upon graduation from high school, Martin hopes to continue his love of drawing - especially cartoons - at the Center for Cartoon Studies, in White River Junction, Vt.
Martin said he doesn't take his drawing too seriously and said it's just something he likes to do. He has folders full of the work he has created over many years of drawing.
The two-year program at the Center for Cartoon Studies, which was started by a cartoonist just this year, is something Martin feels would be a good fit.
Martin added his parents, Kevin and Melissa Martin, are very encouraging of him wanting to go to cartoon center if this is something he really loves.
Although Martin enjoys the drawing aspect of creating cartoons, it just as much about the writing of the dialog in them as well.
Martin gave some advice for those who are younger than him who are interested in drawing and the arts.
Martin explained he isn't sure if he does decide to attend the cartoon center if when he is finished he will decide to have a career as a cartoonist.
Aside from drawing, Martin enjoys writing in his high school journalism class, and is a member of Business Professionals of America. Outside of school, he enjoys drawing and reading.
