NILES - Niles' varsity volleyball team got off to a good start this season by claiming its own Round Robin tournament which was held Saturday.
The Vikings faced Bridgman in the championship round and took the game win 27-29, 25-19, 15-12.
In the semifinal round, Niles defeated Bronson 25-23, 20-25, 15-9 and the Bees knocked Buchanan out of the running with a 26-24, 25-22 win.
Mady Peterek had 67 assists, 35 points, four digs, four aces, two kills and one block on the day for the Vikes.
Karly Kennedy had 29 digs, 22 kills, 20 points and nine aces; Mehgan Flynn had 22 points, 18 kills, four aces and one block; Kaylynn Stephenson had 22 digs, 18 kills and 13 points, Claire Molnar had 18 digs, 18 kills, 14 points and two aces; Katie Bourbannais had 22 kills, three blocks, three aces and one dig; Sam Brawley had 48 digs; Brittney Passig had six kills, three points and one block; and Torii Mitchell had 14 points and five digs.
