Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Megan Davis

Megan Davis is a sophomore on the Dowagiac volleyball team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

MD: Getting honorable mention All-Wolverine Conference.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

MD: Losing a game because I wasn’t mentally ready.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

MD: My mom, because she helps people every day and always supports me.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

MD: Being in a position where I don’t feel comfortable.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

MD: Tripping over my other shoe and completely missing the ball.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

MD: All I need is a ball and a wall, and then I am all set.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

MD: I would compete in golf.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

MD: Being a part of a team, and it feeling like a family.

How would you give away $50,000?

MD: I would donate $20,000 to the local animal shelter, donate $10,000 to the school for sports, and $20,000 to homeless shelters.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

MD: Dowagiac varsity volleyball, because it’s my hometown.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

MD:: Be more involved in school clubs.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

MD: Being able to reach above the net because of my height.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

MD: I would change the amount of hits you can have in volleyball.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

MD: “Don’t let her size fool you,” Dowagiac coach Tony Hooley.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

MD: Fill in for someone’s position, and having no idea how to play it. I am very glad that I did it.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

MD: Pay for someone’s meal in front of me.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

MD: Playing with my dog, because he’s my other half in so many ways.
