DOWAGIAC — Cars of all colors, makes and models decorated Front Street in downtown Dowagiac — hoods opened with exteriors waxed, ready to be displayed in town — Saturday.

The 29th annual Rod and Roll Classic Car Show featured vehicles and owners from all over southwest Michigan and northern Indiana. Dowagiac’s own also showed up for the event hosted by the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce.

Karl Sarpolis, of Dowagiac, even rode his 1901 Oldsmobile Curve Dash into town, passing by the gas station during the short five-mile drive from his home.

This year’s event exceed expectations as the number of pre-registered vehicles was up this year, according to organizers.

The 29th year of the classic auto show featured five new classes, such as Best Paint, Best Interior, and Best Engine, giving more car owners the opportunity to receive trophies. The trophies were created by Jimmy Kazlauskas.

At the time of publication, official winners of the categories had not been released to the Dowagiac Daily News.
